My husband and I often hear this type of comment when we’re talking with Singles, especially when there is a desire for procreation. Our time might be counting down regarding this, but we also keep track of time in a far more important area.
At Passion374, we do not believe that your partner will appear miraculously in your life. You have a small part to do. You need, at very least, to show others that you want to get married. If you choose to remain Single, that is acceptable too (1 Corinthians 7: 8), but if you want to get married, you must make a few steps.
However, your “quest” should not take all your time. Above all, it should not steal your joy and energy. Some Singles see the years passing by and only see the absence of a partner, especially when the holidays get closer. They feel they have “lost another year” because they are not in a couple. But our sense of accomplishment, of success, is not linked to our social status. Believing that we are not complete because we are single is one of the worst lies of the enemy!
“Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw near, when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”.” (Ecclesiastes 12.1 WEB)
It is better to be young when you have children. Youth gives us more patience and endurance to take care of them. However, patience and endurance are also the two main characteristics we need to serve God in our calling. “Remember your CREATOR in the days of your youth,” the verse says. God should be more at the heart of our thoughts than our love life!
To stay young, many will go to the gym and pay attention to their diet. Now who thinks of improving their physical condition to serve God? Let’s strengthen our legs at the gym to be able to do spiritual warfare longer. Let us go to bed early so we don’t fall asleep during our church service. Let’s take a well-balanced meal to have a clear mind to understand His Word fully.
Entering into marriage is a beautiful stage in life, but entering our calling is our greatest success. It is not having a child that is the ultimate accomplishment. Our life will have meaning only when we are fulfilling the reason God saved us for; when we are using our talents and gifts to grow the Kingdom of God; in this very special place where we serve God in our particular mission.
Have you advanced the Kingdom of God this year? If so, you have something to rejoice about more than your social status. The spiritual heritage you leave is far more important than physical posterity. If you have not yet entered your calling, what are you waiting for?
“This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12.13-14 WEB)
