The whole message of the Bible revolves around God’s love for us, His creation. It is the story of an enemy who tries to make us believe that this love does not exist and a God who does everything to prove it.
Well, this is our 200th article, so let me something more personal. My husband and I always write to our readers to share what we have learned from the Word of God and what we believe can be helpful for most singles. I am very grateful to God that his Spirit inspires us every week, and I confess, I’m a little surprised. When we started this blog, we made the commitment to write each week, but I was not convinced that we would have enough topics to cover each year. But apparently, God has a lot to say to Singles!
When I open my computer to write, it’s always the same feeling that overwhelms me thinking of my readers. I used to ask God before writing: “What do you want me to say to the Singles this week?” The answer was always the same: “That I love them so much!” I stopped asking the question, but the feeling remained. As soon as I imagine you reading these lines, I am flooded with an immense love for you. I know that’s what God feels for you as a group and personally.
I know that God understands all the thoughts that pass in your head and the waves of emotions that you have to swim through. He understands because He loves you. He might not tell you that with an audible voice, but He uses all the means He can to express it to you. Do you hear his declarations of love? He also used the most extreme way to prove His love to you: by adopting you as His legitimate child (Ephesians 1:5), using his only begotten Son to destroy everything that came to be between you and Him. Did you accept His embrace, did you throw yourself in his arms?
The love of God is the basis of our relationship with Him (John 3:16). We do not need to force ourselves to follow His laws if we love Him with all our strength, our thoughts, and our heart (Mark 12:30). When we love our Father, we want to please Him and we follow His wisdom without constraint (1 Samuel 15:22).
When we are in love with God, we begin to love our neighbor because we realize that they are also loved by God, just as we are. Of course, we have sources of irritation here and there, just like family and between brothers and sisters. But our love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8), as the love of our Father does for us.
All that God asks of us is to love Him. Because His love is the answer to all our needs (Romans 8:32). Think about it: if you know without a shadow of a doubt that God loves you, you will not be afraid of anything anymore. “God loves me, He knows my limits, and He has already found a solution.” You will no longer be worried about the unknown. “God loves me, He always wants to be with me, so I’m not alone in this situation.” You’ll have no problem accepting correction and changing your bad habits when His Spirit asks you to change. “God loves me, He wants only the best for me, so if He asks me to change this or give it up, it’s because He knows it will be better for me.”
If a certain prayer is not answered yet, like finding a partner, you will not be defeated. God understands how you feel. He sees that some days are great, but others are not. He gives you a kiss on the forehead when you fall asleep, exhausted from a job well done. But He is also ready to hug you when you can not fall asleep because you are sad and worried. All of this because He loves you so much! He was heartbroken when He saw this person hurt you by their actions and words, like any good parent who suffers when their child is bullied at school. He may not have intervened as you would have wished, but He has seen everything, He understands and He is here now to help you heal and rebuild.
The love of God is enough to make us smile, to give us hope, to make us happy (Colossians 2:10). Because He loves us, He wants to answer our prayers and give us what we want (Matthew 6:8). But He knows what we need to change to keep our blessings or to receive them. He also knows when is the best time to answer us. So do not hesitate to talk to Him and especially to be ready to listen to what He has to say about all the subjects that bother us.
So, Singles, let me repeat it for the 200th time: God really loves you!
