2024 is upon us, with all its projects and promises. But before we enter this new year, let’s take time to celebrate our blessings and successes of 2023.
We first want to thank God for the multiplication of volunteers working for Christian singles. Our coaches Dany and Diana continued to help us, as did those who have already been serving the solos in Quebec for over a year: Carole, Sonia, Daniel, and Suzie, for Montreal and Centre-du-Québec/Mauricie. Always faithful to her post, Crescence supports the solos of Yaoundé, Cameroon. Joining them this year were Johanne (for Montreal) and Nancy (for Quebec). We also relaunched the Gatineau group thanks to Christine and Elodie, with the invaluable addition of Maryse. We also had the privilege of starting a group in the Laurentians with the help of Anik and Anne-Marie. Thanks to them, we were able to offer 39 activities for solos and 11 conferences and workshops in 2023. Pray for all these volunteers who work hard for solos in their respective regions. May they be inspired by God and strengthened in their efforts!
New this year: we took our first trip! A small group of 11 travelers from Quebec spent one week in Paris in May. This trip ended with a wonderful meeting with the solos of La Cause, our partner ministry in France.
We also held our annual retreat in Quebec (in a beautiful inn), presented a series of Bible studies “A Mug and a Bible”, and continued our Vlog (on our YouTube channel) and our Blog. Big blessing for our Blog this year: Passion374 was honored by the Focus on Family organization by receiving exclusive rights to reproduce and translate articles from their site Boundless, which serves Christian singles.
2024 is an important year for us… it’s our 10th year! We already know that our big celebration will be on September 28, 2024, in Montreal, under the theme “Created in the image of God”. Among our other projects for 2024 are a trip to Alberta, another series of Bible studies, possibly the opening of two other regions in Quebec, and another project specific to churches. We would also like to add 3 or 4 volunteers to our team with graphic design and journalistic talents. Above all, we pray that God will continue to be the center of all that we do and that singles will be built up and strengthened in the state they are in now to be ready for what God has in store for them!
In the meantime, here are the 5 most popular articles of 2023:
“Chemistry” in a Christian Context
We sometimes hear singles talk about their past relationships saying, “She was wonderful, but there was no chemistry between us”. What is this “chemistry” and do we really have to rely on it when we are Christian?
Differentiate between feelings of guilt, shame, and condemnation
“There is no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” We hear this often in churches that preach grace. So when we feel guilty, should we refuse that feeling? Not necessarily!
4 Reasons to Refuse to Worry
When we desire to be in a relationship, it is normal, at times, to wonder why we are still alone and how to find a partner. But these questions should never turn into worries.
Hope for Weary Singles
I think many unmarried folks can relate to my experience. On good days, I understood how much God had blessed my life, even though I had no spouse. On bad days, I felt lonely, discouraged, and even betrayed by the Lord.
Who will be there?
That is a question that singles event organizers often receive. Those who ask this question want to know if they will find their soulmate in this activity. An adjustment is required.
