Then here are some questions to discuss:
Our friends are in our life for a while. Some will be there for a very long time, while others will be there for a short season. It may be wise, at times, to clean up our friendships a little.
When did you clean up your contact list, phone, email addresses, social media? If you’ve never done it, why? And if you have already done so, why?
The apostle Paul is rather extreme in choosing our friendships. Read 1 Corinthians 5:11 and 1 Corinthians 16.22. Why do you think Paul is so radical?
Some friendships can sometimes become toxic. What would be your definition of toxic friendships? And have you ever had such friendships and how did you deal with them?
Why is it important to clean up our friendships before starting a romantic relationship? How can our friendships influence our romantic relationships?
Read Proverbs 18:24. Do you have good friends that you keep for a long time? And why do you consider these people “good” friends?
How do you maintain a good friendship, so as not to “lose” a friend? Looking inward, do you think you’ve neglected some of your friendships lately?
After cleaning, we may feel like we no longer have a big circle of friends. How to make new friends? Where can we find new friends?
Sometimes it can be easier to make same-sex friends. What are the benefits of having friends of the opposite sex?
And what about faith? Do you think you should only have Christian friends? If yes why, if not why?
Read Psalms 25:14 version ESV or MSG. Finally, could you say that you are a “friend” of God? How do you maintain your friendship with God?
Some prayer points to conclude:
Ask God for forgiveness if you have neglected your friendship with Him;
Ask the Holy Spirit for help to clean up your friendships;
Pray for 3 of your friends;
… And of course, please pray for Passion374! Thank you!
