Then here are some questions to discuss:
Read Song of Songs 8:6. It’s nice! It’s really poetic! Love is stronger than death! Have you ever done something for love that you never would have dared to do before? Do you agree with this verse: that love is the strongest feeling in the world?
This verse was written by Solomon, the one who lost his relationship with God because of his love for many women. Many single Christians have also fallen into this trap. What makes a Christian choose love over Christ? How can we fall that far?
If falling in love is so dangerous, what precautions should we take as single Christians to keep our salvation during our process? What are you doing to protect yourself from this?
Our studies are aimed at single people, so we have talked so far about the love of a partner, but are there also other kinds of love that could separate us from God? Why and how?
The solution to many of our sins is to do the opposite: to hate them. Read Romans 12:9. Even God hated certain behaviours. Read Proverbs 6:16-19. Have you been taught that “hating” is wrong? How do you feel about having to hate certain behaviours? Can you do it?
So back to love! If love is the most powerful force, how can we develop our love for “good” things? How can we develop our love for God?
Being in love is a beautiful feeling. But it is very hard on our heart when the feelings are not shared. What advice would you give to your friend if he (or she) tells you that he (or she) has met someone who makes their heart beat faster? Do you follow your own advice?
In the video linked to this study, there are three tips for protecting our hearts: talking about our feelings of love to God, taking steps to declare our love, and being open to the idea that it may not be the right person. Which of the three tips is the most difficult for you, and why?
It is often said: love as it is portrayed in Hollywood is not real love. What is real love? What is being in love?
We all need love, but not all of us are going to find a life-partner. So how can we be filled with love, even single?
Some prayer points to conclude:
Take a time to thank God for His love.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in wisdom and to keep you on your toes when your heart beats faster.
… And of course, please pray for Passion374! Thank you!
