Then here are some questions to discuss:
There is no perfect time to start a relationship. But there are a few aspects of our life or our character that we can improve to make our future relationship easier. Take age, for example. Is it better to get married younger or older? What are the pros and cons of getting married at 20, 40, or even 60 and over?
When we give our life to God, it is good to wait a bit before dating again. Why? How do you know if you are spiritually ready to enter into a relationship?
Should a person who is fervent in the faith, mature in Christ, date a newly saved? And if so, what precautions should they take?
How long do you have to wait after a break-up to start looking for another partner? And why?
How do we know that our heart is emotionally ready to love again?
Should we prepare our finances too, before looking for a new partner? If yes, how? What would be the ideal financial state to start a relationship?
A large majority of women are looking for a man who has a stable job. Do the women in this group agree with that? And if so, why is a stable job so important to you women? Is it important for a man that his future wife has a stable job?
Do you see any other areas where it is better to improve to be more ready to be in a relationship?
There aren’t really any verses that talk about how to prepare ourselves before looking for a partner (because it was usually the parents who would choose a partner for their child). But read the passage Luke 14:28-32. Jesus is talking about the price of being a disciple here, but what lesson do you take from this passage about your preparation for marriage?
Becoming a disciple of Christ, entering into our calling, also requires preparation. What advice have we mentioned today that also applies to our preparation to enter into our calling, to do the work that God has called us to do?
Some prayer points to conclude:
Pray that singles take their preparation before meeting their partner seriously;
Pray that we also keep in mind the importance of pursuing the calling of God on our lives;
… And of course, please pray for Passion374! Thank you!
