Then here are some questions to discuss:
We can become so invested in the process that several important areas of our lives will suffer. Let’s first talk about our relationship with God. How might our relationship with God be affected by our search for a partner or the beginning of a new romantic relationship?
Read 2 Peter 3:17. How can we make sure we don’t neglect our time with God while we invest in our love lives?
When we enter into a romantic relationship, we can sometimes neglect our friends and family. What are the negative consequences of putting our friends, parents and siblings aside?
What can we do to keep a good balance between a new romantic relationship and our friendships, our parents and our siblings?
Read Proverbs 4:23. Ah! This verse! Singles hear it often. What does it mean to “protect our hearts”? What should it be protected against?
When we begin a new romantic relationship, how can we enjoy our little butterflies while protecting our hearts? Read Song of Solomon 8:4.
When we want to meet a special person, when we are in “search mode”, we can sometimes lower some of our standards. Is it really bad to do this? How can we protect our standards, our values, without becoming a rigid person?
Just one interesting conversation with another single person, and that’s it, our thoughts are racing! How can we protect our thoughts, keep both feet on the ground, in our thoughts, instead of having our heads in the clouds?
By the way, our thoughts can also become inflamed with worry, discouragement, or self-deprecation when we cannot find a partner. Here too, we must learn to control our thoughts. Do your answers to the previous question also apply to thoughts filled with worry, discouragement or depreciation?
Finally, even if our love stories are OUR business, we must not forget that our children will also be affected by our direction. How should we protect them in our process? (And if you don’t have kids, give us your opinion anyway: sometimes a person outside the situation has a point of view we hadn’t considered.)
Some prayer points to conclude:
Ask God for forgiveness if you have neglected your relationship with Him lately;
Also ask God for forgiveness if you have neglected your standards, your family, your children;
And ask the Holy Spirit to keep you in His wisdom in these 6 areas;
… And of course, please pray for Passion374! Thank you!
