Then here are some questions to discuss:
Let’s start with a difficult question … Who here has ever experienced a breakup, divorce? I’m not going to ask you to recount this painful experience, but tell me, what did you think of other couples during this time, what did you think of love songs …
Did that feeling of irritation, exasperation eventually go away, or were you left with a certain amount of disillusionment?
Sometimes we may think that our dream of a happy marriage was just “dreaming in color”. Have you also thought that your expectations were too high?
How long after your break-up did you want to get back into a new relationship again? And what do you think motivated this desire?
What has your break-up changed about the way you think about a new relationship? (Whether good or bad)
Read John 11:25God, is the God of resurrection! He wants to help you dream of a happy marriage again. Do you find it difficult to let God resurrect this dream? Or on the contrary, do you have a testimony of resurrection on that matter?
In Exodus 3:14, God is simply called: “I am”, so we can complete the sentence with what we need. What do you need now? Do you see how God can fill that need?
In Ezekiel 37 we read the dream where God showed Ezekiel that He can recreate a whole army from the dried up bones. God is Almighty. He has lost none of His creative power. So, let’s start dreaming again… What would your dream marriage look like, according to what you know about the Word of God? What dream of marriage can God create in you?
Why is it important to resuscitate the dream of a happy and fulfilling marriage BEFORE you start looking for a new partner?
Based on all of our discussions over the past few weeks, what is God’s part in making this dream come true and what is your part?
Some prayer points to conclude:
If God has renewed your dreams, now you have a to-do list. Pray for the courage and strength to move forward.
And if God still needs to heal your heart a little more to make you dream again, pray that your spirit will be renewed and recreated, because He is the God of resurrection.
