Then here are some questions to discuss:
Prayer is the basis of a Christian’s life. It is our way of communicating with our Heavenly Father. We can talk to God at any place and time of day, but there are places and times when we are better able to focus on Him. Tell us a little about your prayer habits.
In your entourage or in your church, is there a person who you would say is a “woman of prayer”, or a “man of prayer”? And if so, what does he or she do that is special for you to give them this title?
Have you, or someone you know, ever had one of their prayers answered? Can you share with us a testimonial?
If you could sit next to God and hear the prayers of the whole world, what do you think the most popular prayers would be? What do you think God gets asked about the most? And do you think God can be annoyed, exasperated with these prayers?
Read 1 John 5:14-15. According to this verse, what prayers are answered? And so, can we conclude that there are prayers that will not be answered? If so why?
Read Ephesians 6:18 and Romans 12:12. In several places in the Bible it is recommended to persevere in prayer. For what requests should we persevere and to what extent?
Read Deuteronomy 3:26 and 1 Samuel 16:1. According to these verses, God can also tell us to stop praying! Does this surprise you? When do you think God might tell us to stop praying?
For a single person, what prayers should one persevere in, and what prayers should one stop praying?
Praying is not just about telling God our needs. It is also to speak with him and listen to him (a discussion), it is sometimes to repent, other times to adore him and thank him, and other times to intercede. Among these 5 types of prayers, which do you pray the least often and why? Do you believe it is necessary to include all of these types of prayers and if so, what could you do to add more of this type of prayer into your daily life?
Why did Jesus need to pray? And what does this teach us?
Some prayer points to conclude:
As the disciples asked Jesus to show them how to pray, let us ask the Holy Spirit to inspire us in our prayers;
Let us pray for the needs of everyone in our group;
… And of course, please pray for Passion374! Thank you!
